Carbon dioxide gas fire extinguisher is based on c02 gas. It expels carbon dioxide gas which works by removing the oxygen supply from the burning area which shuts off the fire.
Water cannot be used in case of fire-related to electricity or due to flammable liquids like oil, paints, petrol, diesel, etc, as in case of electric fire there is a high risk of shock as water is a very good conductor of electricity. Hence water cannot be used in this case.
In the case of oil fire also water cannot be used as the oil will float over water and the burning process will even continue after water application hence it is not capable of bringing down oil fires.
So as to overcome these problems carbon dioxide gas is used to switch off these kinds of fires. Co2 fire extinguisher is used in case of class B and C fires.
Carbon dioxide gas fire extinguisher is based on pure carbon gas which does not leave any after application residue hence it is also cost-effective in terms of clean application.
It has got some serious advantages over other types of fire extinguishers as it does not damage the sensitive electronic equipment. This fire extinguisher does not damage the material on which it is applied as it releases only pure gas which escapes into the atmosphere and saves the valuable assets of our highly valued clients.
Carbon dioxide fire extinguisher does not leave any residue as foam or water type extinguishers leaves.
This is the smallest and most portable carbon dioxide fire extinguisher having BIS Spec no.15683.
It has a discharge time of about 8 to 16 seconds and jet length of 2 meters. It has test pressure of about 250 Kgf/Cm².
